DD-WRT, by default on either mini-usb or MEGA builds, includes an FTP daemon known as ProFTPd. While it does not allow for very many configurable options via the DD-WRT Web-GUI, there are some good things to know before you go hosting the contents of a drive to either the LAN or the outside WAN.

While commercial NAS devices will set you back several hundred dollars, you can get hold of a DD-WRT-compatible router by brands such as TP-LINK, Buffalo and Linksys for less than $60 – some are even available for as little as $20 if you order from Amazon.com.

However, it is important to consider that FTP is not secure, which is why some additional measures will need to be implemented. Build #23503 (dd-wrt.v24-23503_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small) still has this issue. I am able to ssh in an wl down and wl up to restore WiFi.I also notice in the previous build and this one that a secondary, 'private' wifi network will not function. ===== Please note that this is NOT a full mirror of all DD-WRT builds.
